Recognizing the positive impact of public benefits

Public benefits exist for a reason. Not everyone is able to work full-time, yet everyone needs to meet their basic needs, which requires income. SSI and SSDI are federal programs designed to address this economic reality, but are unable to have their intended impact because of restrictive and burdensome policies.

In an ideal world, it would be unheard of for someone living with a disability to need an attorney to access basic income. Until then, Safety Net Legal Services is here to bridge the gap - demystifying the process for claimants, working collaboratively with care providers, and winning cases with highly customized, detail-obsessed representation.

Safety Net Legal Services was founded with the goal of providing excellent representation to SSI and SSDI claimants, honoring the dignity and circumstances of all clients, and providing the best possible outcome in every case.

Beginning in 2009, Safety Net Legal Services founder, Simon Knaphus, represented SSI/SSDI claimants in the Bay Area, where he developed a reputation as a strong and compassionate attorney for low-income people from a wide range of communities. In 2013, he enthusiastically brought his practice to Seattle, and he now represents clients nationwide.  Simon is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice in the Ninth Circuit Court Court of Appeals.  He does not provide representation or advice in state matters, but provides referrals and resources when client or community member needs fall outside his scope of representation.

Safety Net Legal Services is law firm experienced in representing people who have been denied SSI/SSDI, and those who are considering applying. SNLS is committed to boutique-style, trauma-informed representation that honors each unique client.

Simon Knaphus will give your case the care it deserves and leave no stone unturned in fighting for your benefits.
